At 4:42pm, a Fort Myers man was traveling east in a two-door 1998 Chevy on Wildflower Way, Florida Highway Patrol reports. While traveling at a high speed, Perez lost control of the vehicle and slid clockwise toward the shoulder of the road, the FHP reported.

The left side tires then hit a raised concrete curb edge, causing the vehicle to overturn many times across the shoulder.

The driver and a front seat passenger, also of Fort Myers, were taken to NCH Healthcare System's Downtown Naples Hospital with serious injuries.

When the vehicle overturned, the two backseat passengers were thrown onto the roadway. One passenger, Carlos Manuel of Fort Myers, was taken to NCH Healthcare System Hospital with serious injuries. The second backseat passenger was taken to Lee Memorial in critical condition where he later died. Information regarding the second backseat passenger was not released.
