3 Killed, 4 Injured In Head-On Collision

A woman and her two children were killed in a fatal car accident, Saturday, and four others were injured when an SUV crashed head-on into another vehicle south of Fort Myers, authorities said.

Florida Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at around 1 p.m. when the SUV was attempting to make pass in the left lane on Corkscrew Road, losing control of the vehicle and crashing head on into a car.

A woman, 37, and a boy, 9, both occupants of the SUV, were killed in the collision also killed was a passenger in the car, 12. Four other people were injured in the crash, two are in serious condition and two are listed in critical condition.

Troopers are unsure of how or why the SUV lost control. The accident is under investigation.
